Parent and Teacher Information:
Interstellar Speller First Words is a word recognition and spelling application that has children working with words that are referred to as "basic sight words". Basic sight words are words that are irregularly spelled words that children need to recognise by sight. Learning sight words allows a child to recognise these words at a glance without needing to break the words down into their individual letters and is the way fluent readers recognise most words. Knowing common words by sight makes reading easier and faster.
The program uses International English and is aimed at children in their first two to three years of schooling, or approximately, five to seven years of age.
